We work with every client to ensure that each of their EDGAR filings is completed in accordance with SEC rules and regulations. Listed below are helpful tips to facilitate timely filings:
- Filing Codes:
It is imperative that we have your most current filing codes on file in order to successfully file your document with the SEC. Please inform your Customer Service Representative or Sales Representative of updates to your company’s CIK Confirmation Code (CCC). This is a case-sensitive code made up of six alpha characters, one numerical character, and one special character (e.g., abcdef9@). - Filing Fees:
Some EDGAR filings require fees be paid to the SEC as part of the filing process. Our staff is trained to recognize these filings, and we verify SEC fee account balances for applicable filings. - EDGAR Submission Set-up:
In order to build a complete and accurate EDGAR submission, we must convert each of your documents, including exhibits, into a format that is accepted via the EDGAR system. We suggest that you discuss all aspects of your EDGAR filing with your Customer Service Representative. This includes the date and time you wish to file your document with the SEC, any exhibits that will be filed with the main document, and the filing format for each document within the submission. - File Types:
At AFPI, we are able to convert almost any file type into one of the acceptable filing formats for EDGAR. Files that convert the quickest and require the least clean up are word processing files such as Microsoft Word®. - Filing Formats: AFPI offers a variety of filing formats in which to submit your documents to the SEC via the EDGAR system:
- ASCII (American Standard Code for Information Interchange) is the original format used to file documents via EDGAR. It is a plain text with no formatting ability and specific text and tables width restrictions.
- HTML (Hypertext Mark up Language) is the standard language of the World Wide Web. Documents setup in HTML can include graphics, photos, color, and other formatting techniques (i.e., bold, italic, underline).
- XBRL (eXtensible Business Reporting Language) is a data tagging system developed, in part, to streamline the processes for collecting, reporting, and sharing financial information between companies and over the internet.
